MEG System //

Home of the Elekta Neuromag MEG System

Magnetoencephalography (MEG) measures the magnetic fields produced by ion flow associated with neuronal activity in the brain.  The Elekta Neuromag System is a state-of-the-art neuromagnetic recording device capable of non-invasively recording these magnetic fields Our system is made up of the following components:

The Elekta Neuromag MEG - The sensor array that measures the magnetic fields that the brain generates.  For more information, go to the Elekta Neuromag MEG page.

The Magnetically Shielded Room (MSR) - The room that the MEG is located in.  The MEG sits in a shielded room because the signals we are interested in measuring are much, much smaller than normal environmental magnetic noise.  The shielded room helps block the majority of environmental magnetic fields so that we can detect the magnetic fields generated by the brain.  More info on MSR>

EEG - The system can simultaneously record EEG measurements along with MEG data.  For more information, go to the EEG page.

The Elekta Neuromag Acquisition Software - This proprietary software is specifically designed by Elekta to capture and record the MEG data.  It can also capture EEG data, stimuli and responses.  For more information, go to the Elekta Neuromag MEG page.

Stimulus and Response Equipment - We have a variety of stimulus equipment available for different types of experiments, including visual, auditory, and somatosensory.  We can record responses to stimuli, including button press responses, finger lifting, and eye tracking.  For more information, go to the Stimulus and Response Equipment page.
