Veronik Sicard, PhD

Dr. Sicard is a postdoctoral fellow at the Mind Research Network under the supervision of Dr. Andy Mayer. Her dissertation aimed to develop an objective method to determine whether athletes with a sport-related concussion were ready to go back to play. Accordingly, she created and validated a computerized cognitive task that assesses cognitive control to be completed before and after an acute bout of cardiovascular exercise. Her current work at MRN evaluates the chronic outcomes of mild traumatic brain injuries (mTBI) in children and adolescents, including functional abnormalities on neuroimaging. She wishes to further the understanding of the residual cognitive deficits in mTBI to provide evidence-based guidelines to diagnosis and treatment of mTBI. Dr. Sicard has authored several book chapters, given dozens of scientific conferences including a keynote presentation, and worked on several projects related to concussions and mTBI, with more than 10 papers under review.
