| DR. JUNG RECEIVES TEMPLETON FOUNDATION GRANT |
|
The Mind Research Network is pleased to announce one of it's researchers, Rex Jung, Ph.D. has been awarded a grant from the John Templeton Foundation. Started in 1987 as a three-person office, the Templeton has grown into a philanthropic organization boasting over $1.1 billion in assets, of which almost $60 million was awarded in 2006 alone. Titled “The Neuroscience of Creativity", Dr. Jung's proposal was one of 456 the Foundation received last year, and was among the 238 approved grants. His proposal consists of a multi-year study of creativity, utilizing structural MRI, DTI, functional imaging and cognitive testing. “Our goal is to identify regions and networks critical to the creative process”, Dr. Jung explained. "From there, the possibilities are endless– creative individuals could be identified and matched to specific tasks. Educational programs could be developed to enhance creativity in children. We hope to finally dispel the old myth that to be exceptionally creative, one must be touched by madness." |
